Gentle Adventure for the Whole Family
Fairy Meadows is one of the most magical places a family can experience together — a lush alpine meadow at 3,300 metres where children can run through wildflowers while parents gaze at Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world, rising impossibly above. Our family retreat version of this classic destination replaces strenuous trekking with gentle pacing, comfortable cabin accommodation, and activities designed to engage children aged 8 and above with the wonders of the high mountains.
The adventure begins with a jeep ride up a famously thrilling mountain track to Tato Village, followed by an easy 5-kilometre forest walk through towering pines to the meadows. Families stay in rustic but comfortable wooden cabins with mattresses and warm blankets, or in spacious family tents for those who prefer the full camping experience. Evenings are spent around a crackling bonfire — toasting marshmallows, telling stories, and watching the stars appear above Nanga Parbat's silhouette.
Activities are tailored for families: nature scavenger hunts in the forest, stargazing sessions, gentle nature walks to identify wildflowers and birds, and an optional hike to Beyal Camp for older children and fit parents. This retreat gives families the mountain experience of a lifetime without the demands of serious trekking.
