About This Tour

Rush Lake (also spelled Rushil) sits at approximately 4,694 meters in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, making it one of the highest alpine lakes in the world. This pristine turquoise glacial lake is nestled in a dramatic amphitheatre of rock and ice, surrounded by some of the Karakoram's most spectacular peaks — Rakaposhi (7,788m), Diran (7,266m), Spantik/Golden Peak (7,027m), and Rush Peak.

The trek begins from Hopar village in the Nagar Valley, ascending through lush apricot orchards and terraced fields before entering the high alpine zone. The route follows the Hopar (Barpu) Glacier system, climbing steadily through moraines and meadows. The highlight is reaching the lake itself — a stunning body of turquoise water reflecting the surrounding peaks, often still partially frozen even in midsummer. The panoramic views from the lake are among the most spectacular in all of Pakistan.

Rush Lake has become one of the most popular high-altitude treks in Pakistan, attracting both domestic and international trekkers. The trek is challenging but does not require technical climbing skills, making it accessible to fit trekkers with some high-altitude experience. The combination of world-class mountain scenery, a stunning destination lake, and the warm hospitality of the Nagar Valley communities makes this one of the most rewarding treks in the Karakoram.
