About This Peak

Koh-e-Brobar (5,207m) is located near Gilgit town, making it one of the most accessible peaks in the region. Its non-technical standard route follows moderate slopes without requiring any climbing equipment beyond basic trekking gear and crampons. Perfect for fit trekkers taking their first step into mountaineering.

The summit offers panoramic views of Rakaposhi, Diran, and the entire Gilgit Valley. Can be completed in under a week from Gilgit, making it ideal for those with limited time. The approach passes through beautiful alpine meadows and birch forests.

Drive to trailhead near Gilgit, trek to base camp at ~3,800m, high camp at ~4,600m, straightforward summit day on moderate snow and scree.

Local Climbing

Shimshali herders and local mountaineers regularly traversed the peak's slopes as part of traditional pastoral routes.

First Tourist Ascents

Adventure tour operators began offering guided climbs of Koh-e-Brobar as an introductory mountaineering experience.
