About This Tour

Fairy Meadows, known locally as Joot, is a breathtaking alpine meadow at approximately 3,300 meters on the northern face of Nanga Parbat (8,126m), the ninth-highest mountain in the world. Nestled within Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan, this lush green plateau is carpeted with wildflowers during summer and framed by towering pine and birch forests. The meadow offers one of the most dramatic and accessible close-up views of Nanga Parbat's immense Rakhiot Face — a sheer wall of ice and rock rising nearly 5,000 meters above the valley floor.

The adventure begins at Raikot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway. From there, a legendary jeep track — widely regarded as one of the most thrilling and narrow mountain roads in the world — climbs steeply for 12 kilometers to Tato Village. This unpaved, single-lane track clings to cliff edges with sheer drops, an exhilarating introduction to the raw terrain of the Himalayas. From Tato, a moderate trek of approximately 5 kilometers through dense pine forests leads to the open meadows.

Fairy Meadows is one of the most rewarding high-alpine destinations accessible without technical climbing skills. Visitors camp or stay in rustic wooden huts, waking to unobstructed sunrise views of Nanga Parbat. A popular excursion leads to Beyal Camp (~3,967m) for even more dramatic panoramas. Evenings are spent around campfires under some of the clearest night skies in South Asia, with the Milky Way arching over the silhouette of the Killer Mountain.
