About This Peak

Shimshal Whitehorn (5,600m) rises above the legendary Shimshal village in upper Hunza, one of the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Pakistan. The peak is a classic snow climb — no technical rock climbing required but demanding physically due to altitude.

The approach through Shimshal Valley is itself a spectacular trek through yak pastures and high-altitude plateaus. The mountain offers outstanding views of the surrounding Karakoram giants including Distaghil Sar (7,885m) and Kunyang Chhish (7,852m). Ideal for trekkers wanting their first genuine mountaineering experience.

Drive to Shimshal village (3,100m), trek to base camp at ~4,200m, high camp at ~5,000m, summit day on snow slopes.
