About This Tour

Deosai National Park is one of the highest plateaus in the world, sitting at an average elevation of 4,114 metres in Gilgit-Baltistan between Skardu and the Astore Valley. Known locally as the 'Land of Giants,' this vast, treeless expanse stretches across approximately 3,000 square kilometres of rolling alpine tundra. Camping here feels like sleeping on the roof of the world — an endless horizon of golden-green grassland, dramatic cloudscapes, and a night sky so dense with stars that the Milky Way casts visible shadows on the ground.

Deosai is the last stronghold of the Himalayan brown bear, whose population has recovered from fewer than 20 individuals in the 1990s to over 70 today thanks to the park's protected status. The plateau also hosts golden marmots, Himalayan ibex, red foxes, snow leopards, and over 124 species of birds including golden eagles and lammergeiers. During July and August, the entire plateau transforms into one of the world's largest wildflower meadows — a kaleidoscope of blue, yellow, and purple stretching to every horizon.

The jewel of Deosai is Sheosar Lake at 4,142 metres, a stunningly clear high-altitude lake that reflects surrounding peaks in mirror-like perfection. Our camping tour provides 4x4 transport across the roadless plateau, expedition-quality camping gear, and experienced guides with deep knowledge of the park's wildlife. With no light pollution for hundreds of kilometres, Deosai offers astrophotography opportunities that rival the world's best dark-sky reserves.
